Season Start Date: September 23rd
Diablo 4's tenth season is bringing chaos to Sanctuary in the best possible way. The Season of Infernal Chaos introduces game-changing mechanics that will completely transform how you build your character and approach combat. Straight from today's developer livestream, here's everything casual players need to know about the exciting new features coming your way.
What Makes This Season Special?
Season 10 focuses on two revolutionary mechanics that fundamentally change how you play: Chaos Armor and Chaos Perks. Unlike previous seasons, where new features felt like simple add-ons, these mechanics require you to completely rethink your character builds from the ground up.
Chaos Armor: Your Favorite Items, Reimagined
Chaos Armor takes existing unique items you know and love, then gives them a diabolical twist. These enhanced versions:
Move to different equipment slots than their original versions, opening up entirely new build possibilities
Always roll at maximum power with at least one greater affix
Are more potent than their normal counterparts
Come in five armor slots: helm, chest, gloves, pants, and boots
How to Get Chaos Armor:
Defeat the reborn Bartuc at the end of Infernal Hordes runs
Find them in Chaos Rifts during Torment difficulties
Target specific slots through the Gambler (though it's mostly random)

Chaos Perks: Game-Changing Abilities
Chaos Perks completely alter how your skills function, creating devastating new combinations. Each class gets 16 perks across four rarities (Magic, Rare, Legendary, and Unique), with four class-specific perks that are uniquely tailored to each character.
You can equip one Unique perk plus three others of any rarity, giving you incredible flexibility in customizing your playstyle.
Standout Examples:
Necromancer's "Alter the Balance": Swaps your core and ultimate skills - core skills get long cooldowns but massive power, while ultimates cost only essence
Sorcerer's "Mana Shield": Turns your mana into your life total for a completely different survival strategy
Barbarian's "Single-Minded Fury": Grants massive bonuses, including Overpower Chance, but only if you use one weapon type
Infernal Hordes Gets a Major Overhaul
The popular Infernal Hordes mode receives significant improvements based on player feedback:
Better balance between Aether from events versus offering choices
Fewer but more rewarding Chaos Waves
Soul Spires are now viable with substantial buffs and reworked offerings
New Chaos Waves with unique mechanics like dodging projectiles from Chaos Rifts or defending etheric masses
New Activities: Chaos Rifts and Fleeting Hordes
Chaos Rifts appear throughout Helltides as one-way portals spewing demons into Sanctuary. Seal them to earn:
Seasonal reputation and currency
Bonus XP and gems
Chaos Armor in higher difficulties
Special Nightmare Dungeon Sigils
Fleeting Hordes offer a pre-endgame version of Infernal Hordes through Fleeting Compasses found in Chaos Rift dungeons. These provide four waves plus two Fel Council members, perfect for leveling characters.
Quality of Life Improvements
The developers listened to community feedback and implemented several player-requested features:
Whispers Integration: Nightmare Dungeon sigils now display if they have associated Whisper objectives, making planning much more efficient.
Boss Immunity Changes: All Lair bosses (including Bartuc) now use destructible shields instead of immunity phases. Powerful characters can blast through them quickly, while others face a meaningful but beatable challenge.
Chaos Rift Adjustments: Wave attacks are less punishing with reduced damage and no stacking debuffs, while Nightmare Dungeon versions offer better rewards.
Class Updates You'll Love
Every class receives meaningful improvements:
Necromancers: Minions automatically resurrect when you do - no more corpse hunting after death
Rogues: Dance of Knives now prioritizes elite enemies, while Penetrating Shot gets substantial damage buffs
Sorcerers: Charged Bolts receives multiple enhancements for screen-filling electrical chaos
Druids: Tornado becomes more consistent and controllable with enemy-seeking behavior
Barbarians: Walking Arsenal grants unstoppable status and more attack speed
Spiritborn: All Ultimate skills receive buffs, with the Hunter gaining execution potential at full health

Additional Chaos Armor Pieces
Each class gets one additional Chaos Armor piece beyond what was shown in the PTR, giving even more build variety and customization options.
Rewards Worth Playing For
Season 10 includes some of the coolest rewards yet:
Reliquary rewards feature a Labrador pet and the first-ever reactive wings in Diablo 4
Reactive wings activate during kill streaks of 20-25 enemies
Pandora, a menacing fox pet with magma effects, unlocks through Chapter 6 of the Season Journey
Twitch drops include a bow at the start of the season and a polearm during launch week
Looking Ahead
Season 10 will be longer than usual, extending until Season 11. The developers are using this time to work on major changes to masterworking and tempering systems, which will be tested in the Season 11 PTR. Your participation in that PTR will be crucial for shaping these important systems.
Getting Started
Season 10 launches Tuesday, September 23rd. Patch notes are available now, giving you a full week to theory-craft your builds before launch.
Whether you're a veteran demon slayer or newer to Sanctuary, Season of Infernal Chaos promises to shake up everything you think you know about Diablo 4. The combination of Chaos Armor and Chaos Perks creates nearly endless build possibilities, while quality of life improvements make the overall experience smoother and more enjoyable.
Prepare for chaos - the good kind that makes every run feel fresh and exciting.
